Adoption Updates

Published on 27 September 2021 at 18:23

Hello everyone! I hope you are enjoying this fall season! I will be making this post about all our snail/slug adoption updates, as of currently. We have had our first adoption, and so now we know more. Let me know if you have any questions!

HOW DOES IT ALL WORK?

This is probably the most common question asked. To adopt any animal under our care, you must email us and we will go over all the info. All the care guides, food guides, calcium guides, protein guides, setup guides, etc, will be read. We will need to know who you want to adopt, and we will need your setup for the animal shown to us. You must also list everything inside the setup. We need these things clearly stated to us to get the animal safely into your care. If you have any questions about adoptions or fostering, please let us know!

IS THERE A FEE?

Originally I stated that there was no fee for our first few adoptions. However, we have now had two adoptions, and both were free of charge. So, all adoptions now will have a fee. The fees are different depending on how you plan on getting the animal, so please read carefully. If you live nearby and plan on picking the animal up from the owner (Hannah Carter), the fee is $5 per large snail $2-$3 per small snail (this applies to slugs as well, but differs on other animals.) All the supplies will not be provided by us, but if you do need something, just ask and we will see what we can do. If you must have the animal shipped to you, the fee will be anywhere form $40-$50, or lower. This is including shipping fees, boxes, etc. If you don't want to adopt an animal because of that fee, please just let us know, we will try our best to help you out!

IS SHIPPING A SNAIL LEGAL?

I have mentioned this in a blog before, but, no it is not legal to ship a snail across state lines. We will not ship snails or slugs across state lines, so you must be in Tennessee, where we are located. You don't have to live nearby us, you just have to be in the state of Tennessee to adopt or foster a snail or slug. If you do not live in Tennessee, but still want to help us out, etc, please feel free to contact us and we will see how you can help! We do have aquatic snails though, and they are legal to ship across state lines. Other animals we have will differ on their laws, so don't hesitate to ask about them!

I DON'T KNOW WHERE TO START!

Adopting an animal can be confusing. So, if you do not know where to start, just contact us, and we can help explain. Like stated above, we will go over all the information, and talk about fees and transportation with you. In the end, there is no need to worry! We are positive you will be an amazing animal parent!
