Recently here Starlight Snail Rescue, we have had our first ever adoption! I have been so excited and busy with getting everything ready, we forgot to update the website. This first adoption does affect our further adoptions, I will explain this further in another blog. Anyways, here is the story behind our first adoption.
In mid August, I saw a message for someone looking for snails. I answered saying I had some snails if they were interested in adopting. I knew that I had to ship the snails, so it was quite exciting. They soon replied saying that they would love too, and explained what snails they wanted. They had chosen Boo and Finn! I was super excited to finally find these two a home. Anyways, it took about a week to get the adoption process over with, and ready to get shipping supplies ready. It took about another week to get all the supplies ready, but it was all worth it! Soon I was getting the snails ready and the box ready to be sent. Once the day came I was very nervous, I was so happy that these snails were finding a home. But, I didn't want to let them go. They had been with me so long, they were like family. I knew they were going to a good, loving home though.
They had been sent on Tuesday, September the 14th, and arrived on Thursday, September the 16th. They had messaged me upon the arrival, and all was well. Even though I had wrote the correct address on the box, the delivery man took it to his neighbor. But, they had the snails and that was all that mattered. All was well until the next day, Boo wasn't waking up. No matter what they did, he wouldn't wake up. It turn out that Boo had passed away in shipping. They think it was because the delivery man delivered them to the wrong address, and they sat around for a while. This made me very sad, and upset. It seemed so unfair, Boo was so close to getting to his home. He was such a beautiful snail. He may have not made it to his new home, and gotten to know his new owner, but he will always be remember in our hearts here at Starlight Snail Rescue.
Even though the passing of Boo was sad, I know that Finn and another snail got to go to a good home. I know that no matter what happens, God is always in control. I thank God every day for giving me a person with the heart to care for these snails. Because snails are truly a gift from God.
