How You Can Adopt A Snail

Published on 12 July 2021 at 17:16

You want to adopt snail, but don't know where to start? This blog post can help you with that!

Here at Starlight Snail Rescue, we rescue all sorts of snails and slugs and try to find them homes. Finding them homes can be tricky, as many people don't know where to start. First thing to consider is snail or slug care. If you don't know how to care for a snail or slug contact us or check out our other blog posts. If you complete your snail or slug care guide and adopt from us, and ever have any questions feel free to contact us below.

HOW DO I GET THE SNAIL?

This is a rather tricky problem. Here in the United States we have a law that snails may not be shipped across state lines. Therefore we cannot reach all over the U.S. However, we do have alternate routes. If you are in the state of TN, where we are located,  you can have a snail shipped to you. Let us know in your email if you are located in TN. Let us know if you are in other nearby states, like GA, AL, etc. We are also willing to meet up with you if you will be somewhat nearby.

DO I GET ANY FREE CARE EQUIPMENT?

We can't provide you with any big equipment, but we will include a free cuttlebone and some snail/slug treats.

IF I LOOSE MY SNAIL OR SLUG DO I GET A FREE ONE?

If for some reason your snail or slug doesn't make it, let us know we will send you an apology note. Because each snail or slug is unique and have their own names and personalities, it would be hard for us to give you another one free. You will get your next adoption free though!

Just note you should never release your snail or slug at any time! Let us know if you have any issues.

DO I HAVE TO PAY A FEE?

This mostly depends on if we have to ship the snail to you or not. Sometimes we do some adoptions for free, but regular adoption fees would be about $10 or less. If we ship the snail or slug to you (not across state line of course) we will discuss if there will be a fee.

Snails and slug are such wonderful creatures, and I look forward to anyone interested in adopting one. I hope this blog answered some of your questions! If you have any other questions feel free to contact us.
